The way to implement Land Pooling Policy in Delhi has been cleared. Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has ordered to declare 89 villages of North and South Delhi as urban. After the Land Pooling Policy is implemented, development will get a boost in the outskirts of Delhi. About 20 lakh flats will be ready. LG has issued orders to grant the status of urban villages to 89 villages of the capital. Now, the way of the central government’s plan to build houses with farmers or developers is now clear through land pulling.
The central government had approved the policy two years ago in 2015 itself. About two years the file was stuck in waiting for the approval of the Delhi government. Many hurdles have been counted on the issue of granting status of urban villages to these villages by Delhi Government. The Delhi Government laid the condition of granting land from the central government in lieu of sanctioning Land Pulling Policy. Which was not able to agree.
Notification has been issued by LG Anil Baijal giving status of urban villages to all 89 villages. According to the order, fifty villages of northern Delhi and 39 villages of south Delhi have been given status of urbanized villages. About 115 villages have already been given status of urban villages by the DDA. It is said that the DDA’s scheme of involving 200 rural areas in this policy was stuck so far only due to lack of permission from the Delhi government.
