Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs approved the construction of 1,86,777 and affordable houses in the interest of the urban poor under the Prime Minister’s housing scheme (urban). This amount was approved in the 30th meeting of the Central Approval and Monitoring Committee (CSMC). A total of Rs 11,169 crore will be invested on the construction of these houses in which the central government will provide assistance of Rs 2797 crore.
According to the latest decision, Rs. 799 crore for 53290 houses in Haryana, 609 crore for 40623 houses in Tamilnadu, Rs. 490 crore for 32656 affordable houses in Karnataka and Rs. 182 crore for 15584 houses in Gujarat will be given. . Similarly, construction of 12123 houses in Maharashtra, Rs 234 crore in Kerala, Rs 142 crore for 9461 houses in Kerala, and Rs 77 crore central assistance for 6226 houses in Uttarakhand will be provided.
The construction of 1,08,095 new houses under the beneficiary-led construction Component Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) (urban) has been approved, under which 26672 in Tamil Nadu, 16630 in Karnataka, 13663 in Haryana, 13663 in Bihar 11411, 9461 in Kerala, 8768 in Gujarat, 7088 in Maharashtra, 5698 in Uttarakhand and 5133 houses in Odisha are proposed. In this category, the beneficiary of the scheme is helped to build a house on his own land.
On the other hand, under the Affordable House in Partnership Component, 36056 in Haryana, 16026 in Karnataka, 13951 in Tamil Nadu, 6246 in Gujarat, 5035 in Maharashtra and 528 houses in Uttarakhand construction are to be proposed.
With these proposed houses, the final approval from the CSMC will increase the number of total houses under PMAY (urban) to 37,83,392. Also, after combining projects of Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) scheme, the total number of funded houses under PMAY (urban) will increase to 39,25,240
