The Central Government has decided to give additional grants to the smart cities performing well. For this, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and World Bank have prepared a performance based program, which will cost $ 500 million (about Rs.3300 crores). The Ministry has asked the SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) of 60 Smart Cities, selected in the first and second phases, to send their proposal to the Ministry, 12 of these cities will be selected for this additional grant.

Opportunity tilll December: In the letter of the ministry, it has been said that all the 60 Smart Cities’ SPV will have to send the information related to their performance to the Ministry till November 30. While these Smart Cities, which are in the States or Union Territories, they have to send information to the Ministry till December 13. States need to review the performance of Smart Cities at their level and send it to the Ministry.
Announcement in the week: An official of the ministry said that if Smart City officials have to take any information regarding this process, they can contact the Ministry till November 15. He said that the performance of all the smart cities sent by December 13 will be examined and within the next three weeks the ministry will announce the cities which should be given this grant.
